Portland Community College
Electronic Security Program
Portland, OR
The College selected Faith Group to undertake a threat and vulnerability assessment (TVA) and an evaluation of their Electronic Security Systems (ESS) at their four campuses (Sylvania, Cascade, Rock Creek, Southeast) and nine centers. Faith Group field surveyed 80+ buildings across the four campuses. The ESS evaluation included access control, video management, video surveillance (VSS), mass notification, intrusion detection, and code blue emergency communication. A key component of the assessment was developing an implementation “roadmap” to phase both short- and long-term solutions, which Faith Group coordinated and tailored to each PCC department’s (Public Safety, IT, Facilities & Maintenance, etc.) needs. Additionally, the ESS program evaluation considered personnel support roles and responsibilities, including service level agreements and RACI (Responsible – Accountable – Consulted – Informed) charts between college departments’ responsibilities to better define ESS project deliverables throughout design and construction.
Faith Group also provided Division 28 security system specification construction standards, design guidelines, O&M standards, and existing conditions drawings. For the Southeast campus, Faith Group provided professional design and construction administration services to replace the aging camera system throughout all buildings and parking lots. The VSS design included new video analytics for automatic license plate recognition and enhanced search and object recognition using metadata to facilitate rapidly identifying objects or events of interest.
