Recently, students in New Hampshire took part in the annual SkillsUSA NH competition happening throughout March. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers, middle school, high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. According to Jeffrey Stuart, executive director SkillsUSA NH, more than 40 contests took place statewide with students competing in various areas, including culinary, carpentry, leadership and electrical.
Our Sr. Project Manager George Brooks has been judging this competition for years in the Telecommunications Cabling contest. Students who participated in the competition completed various challenges, some of which included troubleshooting copper cable, cable installation and termination, and other timed events, along with judging them on a written test on cabling & customer service, their resume, and professional development.
Winning students have the opportunity to go to the SkillsUSA National Conference in June held in Atlanta, GA. The winner of SkillsUSA NH in the Telecommunications Cabling contest this year who will be advancing to Nationals is Maddi Campbell. Faith Group is sponsoring competition her trip to Nationals to compete and wishes her the best of luck!
